How do I book a prison visit?

How to book

1. Step 1

   Get on the visitor list

Nobody can book until the prisoner has added you. That list is a security check, not a reception favour.

2. Step 2

Book online or phone the line

Book on the GOV.UK prison visits service, or call that prison’s booking line. Each prison publishes its own number.

3. Step 3

Bring ID and check the dress code

Take the ID the prison asks for. Hoodies, ripped jeans, and some trainers are refused at the door.

4. Step 4

   Arrive early

The visit starts when you are through security, not when you reach the car park.
